Serenity Pillow — After re-watching Firefly and Serenity (one of our favorite tv shows and movies) with my boyfriend , Aaron, I came up with the perfect Valentine’s Day gift. I would embroider the spaceship, Serenity, on a pillow. Now, there are no patterns for such a thing, so I scoured the Internet for pictures that would help me design this one-of-a-kind gift. I ended up finding a drawing, which made things much easier–that is, until I attempted to trace the very light drawing onto black fabric! What and adventure!
It is far from perfect, but Aaron loved it, and that’s all that matters. I don’t think I could have ever topped this gift.

Love Pillow

Back of Love Pillow
Love Pillow–This pillow was an engagement present for my friends Sarah and Dave. They will be getting a matching quilt for their wedding. I used a pattern from Crabapple Hill Studios, with one main modification–instead of using French knots in the background, I used beads.

Grandma Marian’s 90th Birthday Pillow–This pillow was for my Grandma Marian for her 90th birthday this March. Happy Birthday! The fabrics are Kaffe Fassett, and the pattern is from the 2008-2009 Block of the Month Program at Quilter’s Way.

Snowman Butterfly Pillow–I made this pillow for my sister-in-law for her birthday in April. The embroidery pattern is an adapted pattern originally designed by Millie Kelso of Sweet Gatherings. It was “May” of her Snowman Stitchery Block of the Month Quilt. I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of series because I just LOVE snowmen!
