Prayer Shawl–I made this shawl for a friend who was greatly affected by Hurricane Katrina. I don’t remember the name of the yarn I used, but it was fantastic to work with. It was a variegated yarn, which produced these fabulous stripes on the shawl. I used a very simple pattern–one row single crochet, one row half-double crochet, and one row double crochet, repeated throughout. I was very pleased with how this turned out.

Poncho I made for myself–This is not the most attractive picture of me, but oh well. Truth be told, I hate ponchos. I like the idea of them, but in practice they seem ridiculous. BUT, I saw a pattern in a magazine for a poncho much like this, only it was knit. I took the measurements and made up a crochet pattern. I loved working with this yarn (though I can’t remember what it was). I loved how it turned out, but I barely ever wear it. Turns out not only don’t I always like the look of ponchos, but I don’t find them very practical. There are usually two days out of the year that I can wear this. And I feel it is very Springy, so I never wear it in the fall… Ah, well. Live and learn!

Boyfriend’s Hat  Aaron in his hat and scarf  Aaron in his scarf and hat with Toto

Boyfriend’s Hat–The pattern for this hat really was “Boyfriend’s Hat,” and yes, I made it for my boyfriend for Hanukkah. He has a matching scarf, as well, but I keep forgetting to take pictures of it. I’ll have to have him model both for me for a picture and will post an update later. I used Cascade Yarns The Heathers yarn (Peruvian Highland Merino Wool) for this project. The pattern came from Cozy Crochet by Melissa Leapman. Update 1-24-2009–Pictures of Aaron wearing the hat and scarf. Of course, Toto had to have his picture taken too! Scarf pattern was also from Cozy Crochet by Melissa Leapman. Same yarn was also used.

Rachel’s Scarf

Swirly Scarf–This black and silver swirly scarf was made for my boyfriend’s sister for Hanukkah. I made a bunch of these a few years ago, but apparently took no pictures of them. So, I’m glad I have a picture of this one! These are fun and easy. I originally got the pattern from Interweave Crochet Winter Issue 2007 (I think), though I’ve made some adjustments to that original pattern, as I tend to do. I used Filatura Di Crosa’s Gioiello yarn (Kid Mohair, Wool, Cotton, and Acrylic) for this project.
