Crocheting
My Aunt Eunice taught me to knit when I was high school. I knitted one baby sweater (it was very cute, I must say!) and never returned to the craft. I thought I was more of a fabric kind of girl. Then, one long, boring weekend during an extended hospitalization, one of the case managers taught a few of us patients how to crochet. I started a never-ending blanket. I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I loved it. I worked and worked on that thing until I got some further crochet education through a friend I was visiting. Anne taught me several things: (1) the love of really good yarn; (2) the love of projects that are just a *bit* above my actual skill level; and (3) patterns. You just cannot have too many patterns!
And, well, I suppose the rest is history. I haven’t stopped crocheting since. It’s a great activity on the subway, in front of the TV, and absolutely a must when I fly. I call it my sanity craft. And, well, it’s so practical! Or, at least, that’s what I tell myself. My family and friends seem to love their presents. I’m trying to get better about taking pictures of what I make, and you’ll find those pictures in this section of the website. I will continue to add projects as they are completed, so check back often!
