Quilting
When my brother and sister-in-law got married in 2000, all of the dresses were made by hand–including my sister-in-law’s dress. I wanted to make them something really special for their first wedding anniversary, so I collected bits of fabric, lace, etc. from the leftovers and went to the family quilt expert to figure out how to make a little quilt wall hanging out of what I had. I went to visit Aunt Marlene in Indiana, and off we went to her favorite quilt shop for ideas. We found a book on crazy quilts and knew that was the way to go. So, I bought the book, and we went back to her place to plot and plan. And, well, a monster was created.
Unfortunately, that quilt still isn’t done. I can only work on it in short bits. I’m so nervous about ruining the project that I can’t work on it for long periods and just get it done. My poor sister-in-law has been so patient! But, in the meantime, I’ve completed a few other quilts. I do something that I think is extra special with my quilts. I think each quilt tells a story, so why not have an actual story that goes along with the quilt? So, each of my quilts comes with a fairy tale. Most have been written by me, but a few have been written by my dear friend, and fellow lover of fairy tales, Deena. (Deena has so many talents! She is also the amazing designer of this website.) So, check those out at the right. And watch for more projects, as I have several in progress (like any true quilter!).
